Teenage years in Buckingham Palace. Girl guiding with the royal family. Censorship in Bermuda and Egypt during World War II. Phone tapping spies in MI5 during the 50s.

This is an account of a colourful and courageous life. Pamela had the ability to remain relentlessly cheerful despite the challenges, the worst of which were the betrayals of some of her bosses and colleagues and in some cases relatives working in our intelligence services at the time.

A fabulous tale of a truly amazing woman

A thoroughly well researched story of an amazing woman’s life. A fearless and charismatic hero that did not get the recognition she deserved until now.

Truly a labour of love by a daughter who went on a long journey to find out secrets that were never told. Not even to her nearest and dearest.

There is a surprise in every chapter about an extraordinary life well lived.

It’s so entertaining I have read it twice already.

      Secrets and lies!

A daughter’s account of her mother’s fascinating life in the secret world of espionage, spies and double agents. The story weaves around the personal and professional life of a woman who lived under the Official Secrets Act all her adult life, if only she could have said more, the stories she could have told! The book made me want to find out more about the numerous branches of the Intelligence Service and of her personal connections with the Royal family, I hope Eleanor writes a sequel.

      An extraordinary life

I knew how brave Pam was towards the end of her life but hadn’t realised this was a trait she had demonstrated since her teenage years. Fascinating to learn what an extraordinary life she’d lived before I ever got to know her. This bravery lives on in Ellie and she should be really proud to have produced this testament to her adored mother.

      Heroic

A true story of heroism: both of a devoted daughter seeking to uncover the truth of her mother’s secret career, and of the mother whose quiet courage and dedication during the Second and Cold Wars produced information never sufficiently acknowledged or acted upon, at the cost of lives unnecessarily lost.

      Intriguing and sobering.

      An engaging, well-researched book

An engaging, revealing and carefully researched book about the author's colourful and courageous mother. A must read for anyone interested in the history of British espionage and the many political and social shifts that occurred during the 20th century.
